– Lightness: Down is lighter than synthetic fillings for the same warmth. This makes for a lighter backpack.
– Very compressible.
How is down and feather fill rate measured?
Fill power is a measure of the warmth of down (i.e. its ability to trap air). It is expressed in cuin/30 g. Down with a high fill power (a higher cuin/30 g number) is larger in volume, traps more air and provides more warmth. This down jacket is filled with down and feathers (90%/10%) and has a fill power of 800 cuin/30 g or more (European standard).
